GRADING
1 . The scholarship grade for each report period will reflect the quality of the student's work and the degree of his/her growth for the entire period.
2. "Incomplete" will be given in lieu of a grade only when the student has been absent over an extended period. The "incomplete" will be changed to an "F" if the work has not been made up at the end of the semester.
3. "Incomplete" should be used for absence only, never should it be used for failure to complete assigned work for any reason other than absence. "Incomplete" final grades are not permitted.
4. At the beginning of a semester, each teacher will explain his/her system of grading.

A - College Recommending D - Below Average
B - College Recommending F - Failure
C - Average I - Incomplete
CITIZENSHIP
E - Excellent W - Warning
S - Satisfactory
U - Unsatisfactory
5. A "C" average is required for all students who participate on athletic teams and other extracurricular activities.
Graduation Requirements
As a condition to graduation a student must show evidence of
good character and good citizenship, and complete satisfactorily a program of general and specific requirements as follows:
1. General Requirements
Graduating from San Francisco public high schools requires the successful completion of 240 credits from the Class of 2001 and beyond.
It. Specific Requirements Each student must:
A. Establish evidence of good citizenship in your classes.
B. Pass the San Francisco Unified School District Proficiency Tests in Math, Reading, Composition and Swimming.
C. The following are required subjects that must be taken and passed in order to graduate:

World Language Exemption/Waiver Procedures
- The student was classified as limited English proficient in grade six or later.
- School records of other official documents show that the student has completed five years of schooling in a language other than English.
- From the age of seven (or older) and for a minimum of three years the student was enrolled in a school where a language other than English was used as a medium of instruction. ,
- Special Education students who receive a score below 70% on both the Reading and Writing subtests of the Proficiency Standards Test are exempt from the District's foreign language requirement.
